Tanking in Nebraska is something that I have had my eyes on for a few years. I recently experienced this true Nebraska experience and let me tell you, it is an over the top experience. Where else can you float down a river in a cattle tank and take in all the beauty that Nebraska has to offer? The North Platte River in North Platte is where my tanking adventure took place.

Tanking in Nebraska - Just do it!

What is tanking? Tanking is one heck of a good time. It involves floating down one of Nebraska’s wide rivers in a feed tank. Tanks are those huge round steel tubs that you see in pastures. I grew up in a town of 5,000. The cows outnumbered humans in that region, so I have seen them.

The Platte River. Full of sand and during the spring Sandhill Cranes flock for the biggest migration that is known for world wide. But there is a bunch of other things you can do. Like swimming, maybe having a picnic on one of the many sandbars. Or Tanking!

If you haven’t heard of tanking you are not alone. I have never heard of tanking until I moved out from the city. So when I was looking up things to do on our trip to North Platte, I knew tanking was something we needed to look into.
